Canadian Coupon Brag

This week was a very good week for me and my coupons. We had a wonderful time together and they sure did love being used! ;P Here's what I got this week (and in the nick of time, too, as most of my coupons are expiring late March/ April).

#1: Sunlight Laundry Detergent
*one of my personal best in savings*
Reg. Price: approx $6.99
Sale Price: $3.98
On Bottle Manufacturer coupon: -$1.50
In Store Manufacturer coupon: -$1.00
Save.ca coupon: -$1.00
Final Price: 68 cents!

Here's the proof!

#2: Lysol Wipes & Greenworks All-Purpose Cleaner

Lysol (no coupon)
Reg. Price*: $4.99 (at Shopper's Drug Mart)
Sale Price: $1.99
That's just a good sale price even without a coupon!!!

Greenworks Cleaner
Reg. Price*: $4.99 (at Shopper's Drug Mart)
Sale Price: $2.99
websaver.ca coupon: -$1.50
Final Price: $1.49

*approximate prices

Tip: Keep your eye out for coupons on product displays. If they're manufacturer coupons grab a couple and save them. Remember you don't need to purchase from a particular store if it's not specified on the coupons. That way you can wait until you find the cheapest sale price and use your coupon there!

My Coupon Books

To keep my coupons organized, I use these collector card binders. I have two books, one for household coupons and the other for food products. I found these books at my local dollar store, but a larger binder with card holder inserts would be great to use as well, that way you can put dividers in for even better organizing.

Canadian Coupon How-to

Unsure of where to go for coupons? I visit these sites regularily for great coupons! Best part is all these sites mail you the coupons! It's a bit of a hit and miss when it comes to printable coupon sites. A lot of merchants don't accept printable ones, so do your homework first to ensure you're not just wasting paper and ink!

These sites mail you coupons at no charge:

http://www.save.ca/

http://www.websaver.ca/

http://www.brandsaver.ca/

http://www.gocoupon.ca/

Want free samples?

Check out http://www.pgbrandsampler.ca/
Proctor & Gamble will actually send you free samples (again, no charge for shipping). Every couple months you'll receive an email letting you know samples are available. You just need to answer a couple questions, click and choose!

Want to know more?

Smart canucks is a great resource when it comes to deals and couponing. Check out the website at http://www.smartcanucks.ca/ and see all the different forums.

Curious to know how you can save even more by using multiple coupons? I learnt a lot from http://www.mrssmithextremeshopper.com/. There is a fee to join but Mrs. Smith provides tons of info and updates.

You can also email different companies for coupons or samples. Every month you can email http://www.jnjcanada.com/ and request Product or Parent coupons. They will actually send you coupons in the email worth anywhere between $1-$3 each. Super great!

Don't forget to watch for coupon inserts in your local flyer!

Coupon Brag- Grocery Store Edition

Friday usually marks my 'flyer destruction zone'. I click on all my regular grocery store websites and eyeball any deals that work with some coupons I have or just be awesome on their own. This week isn't the best for deals sadly enough. Sobey's is having a Buy One Get One Free Event but I much prefer their Dollar Days Event. Saves me so much money! But, alas, I was super excited coming across this deal for Renee's Salad Dressing! I usually always buy no name brand salad dressings so this is definitely a treat!

What I got:
Renee's Salad Dressing 350 ml

Reg. Store Price: $3.99 each
Sobey's Deal: Buy One Get One Free
Coupon: -$2.50 from specially marked Special K cereal boxes
Final Price: $1.49 for 2!
approx. 0.75 cents each!!

I can't wait to have caesar salad's once again! I've been waiting and waiting until I could use some of my coupons to buy some new dressing!!! Definitely worth the wait.

Grocery Deals Honorable Mentions:
I also picked up a couple other items that aren't as great deals but they do hold their own weight in awesomeness.

Cheemo Frozen Perogies 907 g bags: 2 for $3.99
Club House Seasonings: 2 for $7.00
Arm & Hammer Extra Whitening Toothpaste: $1.79 - .50 cent coupon= $1.29

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder Review

Here's another hitlist contender. I LOVE Rimmel's stay matte powder. Not only is it easy on your wallet (it goes on sale regularily at Shopper's Drug Mart for $3.99), but it goes on very smooth and doesn't leave you looking like a cakeface. I'm extremely pale so I use the translucent shade.I've heard that it isn't a true translucent coverage so be careful if you're darker skinned. I do find my nose gets shiny throughout the day. It's not a big deal to me, but for some girls if you're oilier you might want to keep some on hand to touchup. It helps set my foundation really nicely, and doesn't feel heavy on my face. I've purchased this three times already, and will continue to do so until I find a new love.

'The Tourist' Fashion Obsession

I'm not one to watch a lot of movies, but I'm sooo glad I watched this one. The set design and fashion attire of The Tourist is amazing!! I don't recall ever watching a movie and being so obsessed with the set design or even what the leading rolls were wearing. Nor did I take a fancy to Angelina Jolie much, however this movie has turned that all around. I have spent countless hours trying to find who designed the clothes (to no avail of course) and how to recreate the look. I loveee it!!! She looks so sophisticated and classy, and rich!

Meatball Recipe

At least once a month I go to my local butcher and stock up on some lean ground beef to make numerous make-ahead meals such as these delicious meatballs.

What you'll need:

4 lbs Lean ground beef
1 cup Milk
1/2 cup Finely chopped onion
2 cups Dry bread crumbs (or in my case crushed crackers as I didn't have any bread crumbs)
4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
4 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Pepper
*4 large eggs

*I forgot this item but the meatballs still turned out great! Forgetful Grandma for the win!

Preheat oven to 425 degrees Celsuis. Combine all ingredients in one big bowl. Stir until well blended. Shape into 1 1/2 inch balls. Arrange on greased or lined with parchment paper baking sheet. Bake at 425 C oven for 15 to 16 minutes until no pink remains. Drain. Cool meatballs and place into freezer bag. Freeze up to 3 months. Makes about 8 dozen (96) meatballs. Easy peasy!

Sorry for the fuzzy picture.

Yummers!

I love to use these meatballs for quick and easy spaghetti or meatball sub sandwiches.

Grandma Note: This is also my baseline recipe (without eggs) for hamburger patties. Just form meat into patties. Fry on medium heat in large fry pan both sides until browned. Cool and place in freezer bag. Freezes up to 3 months. That way you'll always have homemade hamburger patties on those days you just don't know what you make! They also are delicious when used as meat in beef stroganoff recipes.

Coupon Brag

So you all know I had to do it sometime and brag on my coupon feats! I just began couponing major (well not major compared to those TLC Extreme Couponing shows but major as in I have books of coupons). I'm slightly obsessed and it feels fantabulous! Here are two of my most cherished couponing brags! It's grandma coupon time!!!

#1: Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid 625ml

 Sale Price: 0.99 cents
Coupon: -$1.00
Final Price: -0.01
So basically they paid me a cent to purchase it.

#2: Scope Outlast Mouthwash 750 ml

Sale Price: $2.99
Coupon: -$1.00
Manufacturer's Coupon: -$1.00
Final Price: 0.99 cents

Grandma Coupon Tip: Make sure you keep an eye out when at the Department Stores. A lot of times they will have extra coupons hidden amongst the aisles. Also, make sure if you're using coupons that you take note of the lowest sale prices. That way you save more and more!!!

Mini Drugstore Haul

So I had this $10 off gift card I received a few weeks back since Shopper's Drug Mart regularily has those bonuses where if you spend $50 you get a certain giftcard you can use on a future purchase. In my case, it was a suprise giftcard so I needed to figure out what I wanted to get that was over $10. Since their sales haven't been anything to catch my eye lately, I waited until two days before my giftcard expires and to my pleasant surprise found some items I've been wanting for awhile on sale!

Here's what I got:

L'Oreal Go 360 Clean Combination Skin Cleanser w/ Scrublet:
I have been wanting this FOREVER but it is crazy expensive in my mind. Regular $12.99 at Superstore & reg. $14.99 at Shopper's Drug Mart.
What I paid:
On sale at Shopper's Drug Mart: $7.99 - $2.00 off coupon from websaver.ca = Final Price $5.99

Neutrogena Eye Make-up Remover:
This is my second bottle of this. Not my favourite eye make-up remover as I find it's hard to get all my mascara off (currently I've been wearing L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara) but it does the job.
What I paid:
On sale at Shopper's Drug Mart: $7.99 - $3.00 off coupon mailed when requested at jnjcanada.com = Final Price $4.99

Then I used my $10 off coupon so I basically got everything for less than two dollars. That is true Grandma styllleeee.

Garnier Detangling Double Care Review

There's not a lot of products I'm loyal to. I tend to see something, try it out and move on to the next one. Always searching for bigger, better, cheaper things. This product, however, is by far the best (& cheapest) hair product I have EVER used. My hair is very notty... naughty. Detangling it after a shower is a nightmare without this stuff. This is my second bottle purchased. After I step out of the shower and towell dry my hair, I quickly spray this all over focusing more at the tips, let it sit for a minute then grab my brush and go. It makes my hair so easy to detangle and the leave-in conditioner really works! My hair is not as frizzy as it used to be and seems a lot sleeker/shinier. Thank you, Fructis! You have indeed made the Grandma Hitlist.

Canadian Price Alert: Don't pay full price for this product. Atleast twice a year this lil baby goes on sale at Superstore for approx. $2.47. Keep your eye out when looking through the flyers. Also, at Shopper's Drug Mart it goes on sale regularily, but you'd still be looking at $2.99 for it.

Let Me Introduce Myself

Thanks so much for visiting my blog! I've always enjoyed 'hunting down' great deals and using coupons to my benefit. My mommy taught me well. It didn't quite hit me on how little people knew of what coupons are available to them until recently when I would get asked by mostly cashiers "Where do you get all those coupons?". If cashiers don't even know then I'm sure there's a lot of people paying ridiculous prices on items they could get for a lot cheaper! My goal is to help equip you with the knowledge and items you'll need in order to get the most bang for your buck at the register!

On my blog you'll find lots of updates on everything from coupon how-to, deals of the week, coupon brags, product reviews and much more.
